I’m Wendy, Founder and Head of School at The Terra Schools. I’m excited that you’re considering our program for your child. 

 

I know how hard it is as a working parent to find a great school for your child. There are long waitlists for daycare and preschool, public school lotteries are unpredictable and stressful, and even “good schools” in the suburbs have large class sizes where children are deprived of the attention they need to thrive. 

 

That’s why I founded Presidio Knolls School (PKS) in 2008, a Mandarin-immersion school located in the SoMa district of SF. I founded PKS so my daughter could learn Mandarin in a nurturing community space inspired by the Reggio-Emilia approach to student development. 

 

Five years ago in 2018, eager to bring my expertise to a new program with unrivaled outdoor learning opportunities, I opened The Terra Schools in Mill Valley for students who shared my daughter’s love of experiential learning. The Terra Schools include Terra Marin, Terra Mandarin Preschool & Transitional Kindergarten, and Terra Spanish Preschool.

 

Teachers are at the heart of our program. With a <1% acceptance rate, we hire only teachers who can create magical learning experiences in the classroom. Our teachers have previous experience teaching in Forest, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Language Immersion schools. And small student-teacher ratios (5:1 in preschool through transitional kindergarten, 8:1 in kindergarten through 8th grade) allow our teachers to provide the personalized attention your child needs to thrive.
