Edith Szendrey
A native of Vancouver, Edith earned a B.S. in music from the University of British Columbia in both violin and
viola, and a minor in fine arts. In addition to inspiring young musicians for over a decade, she has worked with local symphonies including the Marin Symphony and the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and has performed in chamber music concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Choral Society and the Arlekin Quartet. She was director of the Junior Program at the Hawaiian Performing Arts Festival for many years and will be collaborating with the Honolulu Youth Symphony and the Pacific Music Institute this summer. Edith also enjoys exploring nature with her children, fishing with her husband, walking her dogs at dawn, swimming under the stars, and hiking with her camera.
Trevor Smith
Trevor loves music! In a teaching career spanning 20 years, he has taught elementary and middle school
classes, childrens' choirs, adult music theory courses, high school workshops, toddler classes, and private
lessons. He studied classical composition at CSU Northridge, and actively works on at least one composition
project at all times. He also enjoys writing rock and folk music, and attempts to spend some time each day
practicing jazz guitar. When he's not working on music, Trevor can be found hiking, camping, swimming,
biking, or looking at the stars.
